MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out at a two-story residential building in Sampaloc district in Manila early Thursday morning, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.
According to the BFP, the blaze started at 5:05 a.m. and quickly escalated to the first alarm by 5:08 a.m. and the second alarm two minutes later.

Firefighters said they managed to control the blaze at 6:57 a.m. and eventually declared a fire out at 8:08 a.m.
Article continues after this advertisementThe BFP said that around 300 individuals and 100 structures were affected by the incident. It estimated the fire damage cost at P400,000.
Article continues after this advertisementThe incident likewise resulted in the injury of Adrian Flores, 30, who sustained a suspected fracture on his left shoulder and a laceration on his left knee.

The BFP also noted that the structure was made of light materials, which may have contributed to the fire’s rapid spread.
